Though Lunar City has undergone member reconfigurations, name changes and other various adaptations, complications, proliferations, and incantations over the last six years or so, the current lineup was formed in late 2009.
With the manic vocals and meticulously structured guitar lines of founding member Luke Melton, the beautifully transcendent and often times ominous keyboard and striking vocals of Leah Long, the constantly rolling and climbing bass guitar of Adrianna Faulkenberry, and the fluttering heartbeat rhythms of most recent member and drummer Mark Weintz; Lunar City is at their greatest and most content period to date. They play frequent local shows in their home town of Tulsa, OK to which response is always warm, positive, enthusiastic, and at times quite insane and unexpected.
As things have finally stabilized for the band, they are currently recording their debut album. It is projected to reach number seven on the international billboard charts by early 2011 (projections are based on polls taken in imaginary situations). Upon completion of the album, Lunar City plans to tour as much of America as they can afford to travel; perhaps more if T-shirts sell well. Meanwhile, you can usually count on them playing in Tulsa at least twice a month. Though thoroughly eccentric and seemingly somewhat detached, the members of Lunar City are actually very friendly and appreciative to anyone who shows them support. So don’t worry if you catch one of them staring blankly into the sun. Feel free to say hello without fear of a rabid, foam-mouthed attack.
That last one was YOU. |

Lunar City is an orchestrated blend of distinction over repetition, integrity over success, and quite possibly some serious mental abnormalities. ...There are also some guitars, drums, and keyboards thrown somewhere in the mix . All of these things fuse harmoniously to form Tulsa, Oklahoma's premier unknown, nonconformist, "rock" band. |
